Passionate About Body Piercing & Jewellery
Looking back, body piercing hit in the mid 1990's and took Dorset by storm.
Young people were exploring the freedom of an alternative aesthetic and steel body jewellery interest soared as it did multiply by piercing type.
X-Vee One Eleven was Weymouth's first body piercing studio. After completing her apprenticeship in 1998, Emma became the first female piercer in town, which was instrumental in her success; everyone wanted piercings and business soared.
Emma moved to VIA Body Piercing Centre in 2001 where she continued for some years. After a hiatus to raise a family, and gain a degree and career in marine conservation, Emma returned to the piercing industry in 2015 and established the Isha Body Jewellery brand.
Despite the challenges of COVID-19, 2021 brought the opening of the first Isha Body Jewellery shop in Dorchester before moving premises to its current location in Tudor Arcade, South Street. It is run by Emma, Steph, Lauryn and on occasion Emma's daughter, Ayisha. Team Isha shares a passion for body art, jewellery and its aesthetic elegance.
Isha is Dorset's largest stockist of the best in lifetime guaranteed jewellery from highly acclaimed brands; collections include Anatometal, Industrial Strength, Neometal and Junipurr. A full list of our Branded jewellery collections can be found here.
In 2021 Emma received recognition for her experience and professionalism by becoming a Pro Team Member for Junipurr Jewellery and the following year Stiletto Piercing Supplies. These positions offer her the opportunity to contribute, feedback and promote the positive workings of both organisations.
Over the years Emma has continually strived to work to the highest standards of health, hygiene and professionalism in her body piercing practises. For peace of mind, no tools or equipment are ever re-processed and reused. The autoclave steriliser is serviced and tested regularly, and detailed records are kept to document these steps taken to protect the health of her clients. All jewellery used in piercing is implant-grade titanium, niobium or 14ct/18ct gold and carries certification as a measure of safety as set by the Association of Professional Piercers (APP). These standards are set by strict membership to the Association of Professional Piercers (APP & UKAPP). To this date, Isha Body Jewellery is still Dorset's first and only APP and UKAPP Piercing Studio!
Emma keeps all safety, first-aid and skill-based training up to date and certificates can be viewed in the Studio. Her experience also includes emergency nursing and emergency and mental health first aid, an empathic view of piercing and her knowledge of jewellery suitability.
Body piercings are generally by appointment only. Occasionally walk-ins are offered when advertised through the Isha social media streams. For more information book an appointment online or view Emma's portfolio.
The interest in aesthetic adornments remains with many of us who enjoyed its insurgence in the 1990s. This has continued through to the next generation and we are seeing much more in the form of high-end and solid gold jewellery carrying lifetime guarantees. As such, we want to offer a range of stylish and high-quality body jewellery for all of you sharing our interest. With a background spanning back to the early beginnings of body piercing, Emma can not only advise on ear curation, and suitable jewellery types for each piercing but correct placement and sizing too; a unique and more personal touch in jewellery sales.
