    Kids Ear Piercing

Your child's first piercing is a rite of passage - one not to be forgotten! Emma remembers her first piercing experience back when she was 8 years old, and it was only memorable for being matter-of-fact and unfriendly.  She was pierced in front of customers in a busy town centre shop - something she is not a fan of!

    Making the Piercing Appointment Fun

At Isha, we pride ourselves on creating a private, relaxing, positive experience.  We offer a safe and inclusive environment with calming lighting and music (unless requested otherwise!) and fidget toys for distraction.  Emma is a friendly and accommodating Piercer who prides herself on making every experience happy!

    Your Child's Consent

Informed consent is essential to us at Isha, and we want to ensure that your child is aware of what to expect, the importance of aftercare with piercings and that they agree with having their ears pierced!  For this reason, our minimum age for piercing is 8 years old.  A parent or legal guardian (consented by the court) must chaperone and complete our Consent Form.  We also require a physical copy of photo identification, such as a Driver's Licence for the parent and, ideally, a Passport for the child! Photos are not accepted.  Without this, we cannot proceed with the appointment and don't want to disappoint any clients!

    The Process

On the appointment day, clients are asked to complete the consent form. Jewellery choices are demonstrated and chosen before clients and one Parent are ushered into the private studio. All equipment is discreetly unpacked from the sterile pouches, and the jewellery is removed from its autoclave sterilization cycle.

Piercing guns/cartridge systems are banned! Brand new, single-use tools and fine needles for every piercing.   These have been designed specifically for the body piercing industry and are even more comfortable than cannulas!

    The Jewellery

Traditional earring posts and butterfly backs are uncomfortable for initial jewellery.  Many styles are too big for children's lobes.  We favour flat back labrets!  These mirror-polished titanium studs are fitted from the back of the lobe. They can be paired with various removable fronts - classic shapes, faux opals, cubic zirconia sparkles and precious gemstones.  You can view our recommended Kids Ear Studs here.  To fit, please view our Ear Lobe Jewellery Insertion video here.  This demonstration shows how the jewellery works when placed into a healed piercing.

    Aftercare

Please visit our aftercare guidelines here. We offer a discounted Aftercare Pack at each appointment. We strongly recommend reading our Booking FAQs and Policies before you book, as this will save any disappointment on the day.

All clients are offered a free Post Piercing Check Up 6 weeks after the appointment!

    Holidays & Swimming

We strongly recommend waiting for the 12-week healing period before allowing children to swim in shared pools or open water.  All body piercings are vulnerable to infection or chemical irritation until they are healed, and submerging them in dirty and/or chlorinated water should be avoided.  Consider swimming lessons, summer holidays and water parks!

    Kids Ear Piercing Reviews

My 11 year old daughter, wanting to get her ears pierced, was tightly wound up with emotions before stepping through the door to the workshop (nearly as much as me). But as soon as she was in, we were welcomed by a total professional, caring, warm, pressure-less atmosphere.
We spent our first 20/30 minutes carefully, with no time restraint, choosing the right earrings for my daughter with the knowledgeable help of the lady downstairs.
We were then introduced to Emma, the owner and director, who was piercing my daughter's ears that day, and subsequently led upstairs to the well equipped, very clean, work environment.
Emma has that natural talent to put anyone's mind at ease. Emma spoke to my daughter, and me, throughout the whole process. Not only did Emma explain the whole process step by step as we went through it but she was extremely friendly, making us feel at home and easing both of our nerves.
Throughout the whole process (from booking, going to the workshop, checking identification, choosing the earrings, having the ears pierced, after care), me and my daughter were treated with top class professional and friendly attitudes, in a workshop that isn't out of place of the 21st century and would easily compete in any of the top cities in the world. The hardest part was my daughter choosing from a wide array of beautiful, modern and high class earrings (blue, mother of pearl in fact!). My only regret is that my wife won't let me get a piercing!!
