This guide explains mechanics — how jewellery works, how to secure it correctly, and how to prevent accidental loss.
Posts and attachments connect in one of two systems:
Threadless (pin) — compatible across most brands
Threaded (screw) — must be matched to the same brand
Mixing threaded brands can damage threads and may invalidate a manufacturer’s lifetime guarantee. If unsure, ask us.
Threadless jewellery is supplied with the pin pre‑bent (pins are kept straight only when used in curved posts).
How to secure:
Practice connecting and pulling apart before inserting.
Keep post and pin perfectly aligned when inserting.
Push firmly but gently until secure.
Important: Over‑bending pins can cause breakage and may not be covered by the manufacturer's lifetime guarantee.
Gently pull on the end — it should resist and feel secure.
Tighten using “righty‑tighty” (clockwise).
Secure firmly but never force.
How to check:
Periodically test with a gentle clockwise twist.
Seam rings must be opened and closed carefully to maintain their shape.
Never pull ends apart sideways — this weakens the ring and alters the diameter.
Use the S‑bend method: lay flat, twist one end towards you and the other away from you.
Jewellery can loosen gradually through daily wear, sleep and lifestyle.
