Minors and ID Policy

At Isha Body Jewellery, client safety, informed consent and professional standards are at the heart of everything we do. As an Association of Professional Piercers (APP) & UKAPP Member Studio, we follow strict age verification, consent and identification procedures for every piercing appointment.

Our identification policy is an important part of safeguarding children and vulnerable individuals. Verifying identity and age helps us ensure that consent is genuine, that legal guardianship can be confirmed where required, and that all procedures are carried out responsibly, ethically and safely.

We appreciate that these procedures may occasionally feel strict, however they are designed to protect both our clients and our team while maintaining the highest standards of professional practice.

AGE REQUIREMENTS

We are able to perform certain piercings for minors with the attendance and consent of a Parent or Legal Guardian.

8 YEARS+

Ear lobe piercings are available from 8 years+ with a Parent or Legal Guardian present throughout the appointment.

16 YEARS+

The following piercings are available from 16 years+ with valid government-issued photo ID:

  • Cartilage Piercings
  • Nostril Piercings
  • Facial Piercings
  • Navel Piercings

All anatomy is assessed individually and suitability will always be determined in person at the appointment.

18 YEARS+

The following piercings are strictly 18+:

  • Tongue Piercings
  • Nipple Piercings
  • Dermal Anchors
  • Surface Piercings
  • Intimate Piercings

IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

All clients attending for a piercing appointment must bring valid government-issued photo ID to verify both age and identity.

Accepted forms of identification include:

  • Passport
  • Driving Licence
  • CitizenCard PASS

We are unable to perform any piercing procedure without appropriate identification.

LOBE PIERCINGS FOR MINORS

For clients under 16 attending for lobe piercings, the Parent or Legal Guardian must attend the appointment in person and provide their own valid government-issued photo ID.

The child must also provide either:

  • a Passport
    or
  • a Birth Certificate

If surnames differ between the child and accompanying adult, additional supporting documentation may be requested to confirm guardianship.

If a child is in foster care or under legal guardianship, official legal documentation such as a Court Order will be required before the appointment can proceed.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

For safeguarding and verification purposes, we are only able to accept original physical identification documents presented at the appointment.

The following cannot be accepted:

  • Photocopies
  • Screenshots
  • Emails containing ID
  • Digital or electronic copies of identification

Failure to bring the required identification for both the client and Parent/Guardian where applicable will result in the appointment being unable to proceed.

CONSENT & MEDICAL INFORMATION

Before any procedure takes place, all clients are required to complete a consent form and answer questions regarding their medical history and general health.

As part of our legal and professional record-keeping obligations, identification may be securely recorded alongside consent documentation. A copy of the completed consent form will also be emailed to you following your appointment.

Certain medical conditions, medications or healing concerns may affect suitability for piercing. In some circumstances, we may request medical clearance from a healthcare professional before proceeding.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

As an APP & UKAPP Member Studio, we reserve the right to decline any piercing procedure where:

  • identification requirements are not met
  • consent cannot be properly verified
  • anatomy is unsuitable
  • medical concerns are present
  • we believe proceeding would not be in the client’s best interests

Our policies are designed to ensure a safe, calm and professional experience for every client while upholding the highest standards of hygiene, ethics and piercing practice.
